Jordlek i Hage/Dig Splash Dig
PLAY ENVIRONMENT
In May 2022 we designed the first play event in the up-coming series PLAY & RESEARCH at Hage in the urban development area Råängen in Lund, Sweden.

The site is situated on former agricultural land with fertile soil that has had a great meaning to the area. It is also a very good playing material. We dug up the space to create a mud pool with an island in the middle and piles of soil at the back, inspired by the symmetrical layout of a cloister garden. When water was pouring in from pipes the mud landscape appeared and changed over the afternoon inspiring kids to dig canals, islands and play with other organical elements.

Ceramicist Pernilla Norrman worked with local clay dug up from a nearby field to show and tell the children about the material and how to work with it.

Råängen is an art & architecture programme for a new neighbourhood in Lund, Sweden run by Lund Cathedral + White Arkitekter. The Hage space is designed by Brendeland & Kristoffersen architects. Graphic design by Lisa Olausson
